What is MOH Licensing?
Take Your Expertise on a Tour that Marks the Beginning of Your Healthcare Career in the UAE
MOH or Ministry of Health license is an official permit given to medical professionals who wish to work in Sharjah or other emirates of the UAE like Fujairah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah. In addition to submitting the necessary documents, applicants should crack through the examination organised by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (UAE). The MOH licensing procedure begins with document submission and involves credential and data flow processes for verification.
Nursing and Allied Health Professionals MOH License Requirements
Nursing/Allied health professionals who want to work in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates should have gained an Internationally recognised nursing or paramedical University with a Bachelor’s degree through a course duration of 3 years or more. You can also have a diploma of 18 months or more if applying for an assistant position. To register as an allied healthcare professional, you should have two years of post-qualification experience. You don’t require a post-qualification experience to register an MOH license for nurses.
General Practitioners MOH License Requirements
As a general practitioner, you must have a BBS, MBChB, or equivalent qualification from a recognised School or College of Medicine. The applicant should also complete an internship program and have 2 years of clinical expertise post-qualification.
Specialist Physicians MOH License Requirements
Specialist physicians should have completed MBBS or MBChB qualification from an acknowledged Medical School/College of Medicine in the UAE and have three years of post-qualification experience to fulfill qualifications under tier 3. You require no post-qualifications for tiers 1 & 2.
Consultant Physicians MOH License Requirements
If you wish to practice an MOH license as a consultant physician, you should have an MBBS or MBChB from a recognised School/College of Medicine, with specialty qualification reflected in the Recognised Specialty Certificate. Tier 1 of the consultation certificate requires two years of post-qualification experience and Tier 2 demands five years of post-qualification experience.

How Much Does the MOH License Cost?
The cost of earning an MOH license depends on the category of the professional and the type of license you apply for. Usually, the MOH license fees can include the application fee, evaluation fee, examination fee, and annual licensing fee. It is important to analyse the existing fee structure offered by the MOH to lay down an accurate budget for licensing.
MOH License Verification and Renewal
You can use the MOH license in its active period, which is five years from the date of issue of its original certificate. You are free to work and reside in the UAE over this period with no legal or professional constraints. After the validity period ends, you can go for MOH license renewal by adhering to a fixed procedure put forward by the authorities. You also have transfer options available in which the MOH license can be converted to DOH or DHA registration.
Conditions to Start a New MOH License Procedure
To obtain an MOH license, you need to clear an eligibility test. However, before the MOH exam registration, you need to clear the certification procedures and the other verifications like Credential Data Flow processes with the chosen Emirates to work in.
- All the certificates of medical professionals should be granted by universities recognised and listed by WHO.
- All certificates such as post-graduation and experience certificates need to be attested.
- All certificates shall be stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the respective country.
- All original certificates need to be submitted for assessment.
- Certificates for previous experience and internship should be submitted to the MOH department before the eligibility test.
- Submission of the conduct certificate should be made from the Health Authority in the place of origin, and they will issue the license based on the conduct certificate with a seal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- The above requirements need to be fulfilled by healthcare applicants, if not, they will not be permitted for the MOH license eligibility test.
- Healthcare professionals must give only three attempts for the exam. The final attempt should be made post a year from the final examination date.
- If healthcare professionals fail on the fourth attempt, admission gets cancelled. So the applicant can’t earn a MOH license to practice in the UAE.
- Without exemptions or excuses, an applicant should provide all relevant documents and certificates before appearing for the eligibility test.

Who Can Apply for a MOH License?
You can apply for the MOH eligibility test if you are a medical professional in healthcare positions like nurses, doctors, physicians, pharmacists, dentists, radiographers, midwives, physiotherapists, healthcare technicians and assistants, and alternative medicine practitioners.

MOH License Application Process
Healthcare professionals submit invalid papers when they are unaware of the UAE licensing standards and submission of credentials in the UAE. This can minimise their chance of obtaining a license to practice in the UAE. At MedPro Staffing, we offer top MOH licensing services in the UAE by adopting the below processes:
- Prepare All Paper Works : The first phase is getting all the required documentation to help you make the MOH examination process easier. Preparation of papers in advance lets you overcome all the errors and align them before proceeding with the other steps.
- Create MOH Account: Creating an MOH account is the next phase in the process. With the help of an online platform similar to the DHA licensing system, you can create a profile on the site and upload all necessary documents to your profile.
- Get Your Eligibility ID: Once the document upload is complete, you can obtain a unique eligibility ID. It can take up to six weeks to get the ID, and you can use the window to commit to your fee payment.
- Register for Primary Source Verification (PSV): The next key step is registering your application for PSV by uploading the required documents. Verification results are communicated via email, and the process can take up to six weeks.
- Attend the MOH Exam: You should attend the MOH examination on your scheduled date at your convenience. The examiner will be assigned based on your preference, and results will be available within 2 to 5 days after the exam.
- Plan and Arrange Your Journey: Since the exam results are released within five days, you can proceed with your migration plans. Prepare your belongings and make the necessary travel arrangements if you pass.
- Travel to the UAE: If all the steps are completed, it is time to make the dream a reality. Be prepared to live and work in the UAE without professional hassles that could have blocked your path.
